With the Ryder Cup taking place in Wales, 2010 promises to be a pivotal year in the history of Welsh golf. Not just for golfing fans all over the world but also for Wales’ number one golfer Becky Brewerton.
With the first event on the Ladies European Tour less than three weeks away, Brewerton has been working hard in the close season to ensure her 2009 season, her most successful year-to-date on tour, is the start her rise within the game.
As well as spending time with her fitness coach and swing coach over the course of the winter, Becky has also been making important changes to her team to ensure she builds on her success from 2009.
The experienced Shane Codd replaces Craig Barber-Ball as Brewerton’s new caddy for the 2010 season. As well as being a PGA Professional, Codd, brings a wealth of experience to the role having worked with the likes of Paula Marti and Rebecca Coakley.
Brewerton, currently at her practice base in Spain, finished the year 3rd on the Henderson money list and topped the European rankings for the total number of pars, birdies, eagles and number of top ten finishes.
With exemptions to the Kraft Nabisco Championships, US Open and Evian Masters, Becky can’t wait for the new season to get underway.
The first event of the 2010 season is the Pegasus New Zealand Women’s Open taking place at Pegasus Golf Club, Christchurch on 25th February to 28th February.
