John Letters reconnects with stars and golfing public at Open Championship

John Letters’ presence at the Fairmont St Andrews during the 150th Open Championship has been hailed a huge success after a weeklong equipment exhibition attracted interest from golf’s superstars and the golfing public.

Visitors over the course of the week all keen to try out the latest John Letters products included: ex-European Ryder Cup Captain and John Letters player Sam Torrance, ex-US Ryder Cup Captain and player Tom Lehman, past Open Champion John Daly plus past John Letters staff players Lee Trevino and Gary Player and legendary BBC commentator and former Ryder Cup Referee Alex Hay.

In addition, current John Letters Staff Player Phil Archer, playing in the Championship, also spent time on the practice ground sampling prototypes of the new ‘Archer Series’ wedges that are in the development phase.

John Letters’ Tour Support vehicles were busy all week as golfers from Scotland and across the globe took the opportunity to try the brand new T9+, T8 and TP Wedges in the innovative new Letters line-up; Many reconnecting with the great Scottish brand. With golfers getting custom built equipment assembled on-site, the products were well-received, gaining high praise from Fairmont Head PGA Professional, John Kerr, stating: “The T9+ is one of the finest fairway woods I’ve seen in years.”

‘Long John’ Daly, who was leading The Open after day one, spent some of his spare time checking out at the new range with John Letters’ Managing Director, John Andrew, on-hand to give him the low-down on specifications and design.

Also invited to the event were recent winners of The Golf Factor, the junior talent search. The kids and parents got a chance to visit the Tour Van, test the latest products before going inside the ropes at The Open as they got up close and personal with the players on the Practice Ground.

The exhibition also generated a lot of interest from the media – eager to get their hands on the new latest product offerings and give it a try on the range.

John Letters Managing Director, John Andrew, said of the equipment exhibition: “It was Brilliant. We’ve had a fantastic variety of golfers visiting the tour truck and sampling the new gear, from Tour Professionals to high handicap golfers. It’s been a great week and it’s been good to see so many people interested in the new products and reconnect with the brand.”
