Direct Golf promote Junior Golf at The Open

Direct Golf UK, Europe’s leading multi-channel golf retailer, is delighted to support an innovative project aimed to attract more juniors to golf during The Open Championship.

John Letters, Direct Golf UK and Your Golf Travel are running “Golf on the Beach” on St. Anne’s beach and the project is aimed at increasing junior participation in the sport. Inspired by Seve Ballesteros’ 1988 win at Royal Lytham and the way Seve learned to play the game on the beach in his home village of Pedrena in northern Spain, Direct Golf UK and Your Golf Travel have partnered with John Letters to promote junior golf and raise funds for The Seve Ballesteros Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

In an Olympic year and to celebrate golf becoming a part of the Olympics in 2016, the John Letters Junior golf team will be on the beach Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm and are urging parents to bring the kids down and let them have a go at the fun skills challenges that we will be providing and learn to play the game the way the great Seve Ballesteros did.

John Andrew, Chairman for Direct Golf UK, commented: “It’s a great initiative and we’re delighted to be playing our part in encouraging more people to take-up and try golf. Golfers have to be athletes these days and fitness is very important. With the Olympics just days away – the mini-golf Olympics on the beach is a great introduction to our sport and we’ve already had hundreds of kids take part.”

As a proud British Golf retailer, The Open Championship is one of the most important weeks in the golfing calendar and Direct Golf UK, in partnership with Your Golf Travel, hope to make it their biggest and best yet.
